Job Description Summary:
The School of Health Sciences at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, invites qualified persons with a passion for the advancement of public health and expertise in quantitative research methods to apply for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor, salary commensurate with experience. In support of our burgeoning Master of Public Health program and its inclusive community partnership focus, this faculty member's responsibilities are to engage graduate and undergraduate students in research methods and diverse public health pursuits, through teaching, scholarship, student advising, and university and community service. Candidates with evidence of experience with data management and using statistical applications in intervention research projects addressing social determinants of health, including projects conducted in collaboration with other academic scholars, health departments, and/or community-based organizations are especially encouraged to apply. Minimum requirements are a terminal academic degree (e.g., PhD, DrPH, DSc) in a public health, health education, health communication, related social or behavioral sciences field; persons who are ABD, planning to complete their doctoral degree by August 15, 2017 are also eligible to apply.
The School of Health Sciences serves over 2400 undergraduate, masters, doctoral, and post-professional students through a singular model of advancing community-engaged translational relationships. We connect theory to best practices in four thematic areas. Integrative Health – the undergraduate program in health sciences offers concentrations in nutrition, holistic health, and pre-health professions while the applied health sciences program offers degree completion opportunities for health specialized associate degree holders. Biomedical and Clinical Professions – education in biomedical diagnostic and therapeutic sciences includes pre-professional and medical laboratory science, histotechnology, radiologic technology, and nuclear medicine. Human Performance – doctor of physical therapy and master of exercise science degree programs offer post-professional degrees and certificates, and support for undergraduate health sciences program concentrations. Public and Environmental Wellness – comprehensive programs consist of undergraduate wellness, health promotion and injury prevention, undergraduate and graduate environmental health and safety, and the master of public health.
