The University of Michigan-Flint Physical Therapy Department is seeking applications for a tenure track, 12-month faculty position, as Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Post-professional Pediatric Certificate and Residency Program. This position has a 90% instructional and 10% administrative appointment. This faculty member may teach across all programs which includes the Professional Doctor of Physical Therapy Program (entry-level DPT), Transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy (tDPT), Pediatric Certificate and Residency, and the Ph.D. in Physical Therapy. Other responsibilities include assisting with administrative responsibilities in the Pediatric Certificate and Residency Programs which will include travel for review of clinical practicum sites, recruitment and marketing. Rank is commensurate with experience and academic credentials.

Provide instruction and support for students and residents which includes but is not limited to projects, case studies and scholarly activities; Provide student advisement in academic and professional socialization; Structure and facilitate quality learning residency experiences for residents; Assess student learning in certificate and residency programs; Responsible for recruiting mentors and developing the appropriate skills in all mentors participating in the pediatric residency program; Oversee current residency affiliation agreements/contracts and cultivate new relationships with additional residency partners; Implement, analyze, and respond to a comprehensive assessment plan of certificate and residency programs; Continue with record of professional development; Participate in departmental and school faculty meetings; Engage in service at department, school and university level and at regional, state and national levels especially the Pediatric Section of APTA; Engage in scholarly activities; Effectively participate in the department’s collegial model and faculty governance; Maintain ABPTS PCS or ability and desire to obtain PCS within one year of hire
Currently licensed as a Physical Therapist and eligible for licensure in the State of Michigan; Graduate of a CAPTE (or its equivalent) Accredited Professional Preparation Program in Physical Therapy; Post-professional doctoral degree (DSc, EdD, PhD or ABD) (required by date of hire); Contemporary expertise in assigned teaching areas; Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching and student assessment (clinical or academic); Demonstrated involvement and/or interest in scholarship; 3 years cumulative clinical experience (part-time or full-time) preferably in the area of pediatric specialty practice; Minimum of 3 years of clinical teaching and/or academic teaching experience; Ability and desire to initiate, administer, assess, document certificate and residency programs and maintain accreditation; Able to teach graduate level face to face and online courses; Active involvement in scholarship; Evidence of professional activity (APTA section in pediatrics); Knowledge of professional, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting clinical specialization in physical therapy; Ability and desire to initiate contract negotiation, memorandum of agreement/understanding and oversight; Interest in and ability to recruit students and market programs; Able to travel as needed
ABPTS specialization in pediatrics; APTA member; Academic teaching exerperience
This position will be filled at the Associate Professor or Assistant Professor level as determined by the candidate’s qualifications.
